There are countless instances when public golf courses, private country clubs and destination clubs wing it, of sorts, by guessing what its customers and members want to eat.
So, Club + Resort Business set out to find the truth and turned to Adam Brandow, Food & Beverage Operations Manager of Landscapes Golf Management with more than 60 golf courses, country clubs and destination clubs in its portfolio.

Menu items need to be quick, delicious and go well with a draft beer or a Bloody Mary. Equally important, don’t confuse this with basic, boring or expected – the food experience still needs to be memorable.
- Turn Burger – Classic. Simple. Hot. Ready. The details are important here. Bottom bun, cheese, burger patty, cheese, top bun. Simple elegance. It steams and melts together in a holding oven and waits for golfers to make the turn. Forget the toppings; this thing isn’t coming apart.
- The Hot Dog – Get creative because you can put anything on these things and make them super tasty! Chef Michael Beers and his team at River Run Country Club in North Carolina do a “Dog Days of Summer” contest every July. The staff concocts unique dogs and tracks which sell the most for prizes and annual bragging rights.
